Religious Values in Nicholas Spark’s a Walk to Remember

This thesis is about religious values in Nicholas Sparks‟ A walk To Remember. The novel is seen as the representation of people who have religious values in facing life and will believe that something must a miracle that happens to life. This is a library research and applies mimetic theory by proposed by Abrams saying that literature is the imitation of the real life. The analysis is focused on religious values which are represented by characters Landon, Jammie sulvian, and Heghbert sulvian . The author creates Landon who gave affection to jammie, He‟s life changed for the better because Jamie was a woman who was religious and served orphanage children, he always followed and accompanied Jamie so that Landon's life changed to become a better man. He also believes with faith that Jammie's illness will be cured. Jamie a religious woman in facing many difficulties in her life. Like Landon, who is considered a criminal and brutal person, he can prove that he can change for the better because of the woman he loves. And Heghbert is a priest who only lives with his daughter, he struggles to always look after his daughter. Landon who always gave time, love and affection to Jamie and was always there for Jamie. In conclusion, Nicholas Charles Sparks, in his novel clearly portrays people who have Religious Values in faith, love,and service which are given to others who focuses on the positive side of life and think optimistically to have strong faith to overcome deficiencies, suffering and difficulties.
