Abstract
This thesis discusses ―A Semantics Analysis of Metaphor: A Case Study in New Testament‖. In this thesis, the author presents data about metaphors and types of metaphors based on semantics analysis. The data source used is the New Testament. In analyzing the data, the first step is to read the New Testament Bible, identify sentences containing metaphors, collect data, analyze based on the type of metaphor, and the last step is to collect data based on the type of metaphor: anthropomorphic metaphor, metaphor with animal images, abstract metaphor and synesthesia metaphor. The theory used in analyzing the data is the theory proposed by Parera. There are 51 data but the author only presents 20 data. After analyzing the data, the writer came to the conclusion that in collecting data by type, there were 10 data containing anthropomorphic metaphors, 13 data containing metaphor with animal images, 22 data containing abstract metaphors, and finally 6 data containing synesthesia metaphors.
