Abstract

Indonesia is one of the countries considered to be still experiencing a fairly high rate
of bullying, particularly among teenagers. This study aims to discover the types of
bullying and the effect. This study uses narrative qualitative methodology. The
primary data are taken from a novel entitled All the Bright Places written by Jennifer
Niven. The data are supplemented with relevant sources using library research. This study employs a literary sociology theory proposed by Wellek and Warren saying that the work of literature, the purpose as well as the things that are implicit in the work itself and that are related to social problems. The results show that the novel All the Bright Places is not merely a form of entertainment, but it contains: 1) three types of bullying; physical, verbal, and cyber; and 2) the effect of the three types of bullying towards committing a suicide.
