The Translation Of Metaphors From English Into Indonesia : a Case Study in New Testtmant Bible

This thesis deals with “The Translation of Metaphors from English into Indonesian: A Case Study in New Testament Bible”. In this thesis, the writer presents the data about metaphors and the way they are translated from English into Indonesian. The writer uses English as source language and Indonesian as target language. The source of the data that used is New Testament. In analyzing the data, the first step is verifying the data, and the second is to classify the metaphors based on their kinds: anthropomorphic image metaphor, animal image metaphor, abstract metaphor, and synesthesia image metaphor, the third step is to find out the meaning of metaphors, and the last step is to see how English metaphors are translated into Indonesian. The theory that is used in analyzing the data is theory proposed by Parera. There are 50 data but the writer only presents 24 data. After analyzing the data, the writer came to the conclusion that in collecting data by type, there were 12
data containing anthropomorphic metaphors, 13 data containing metaphors with animal images, 15 data containing abstract metaphors, and finally 10 data containing synesthesia metaphors.
