Abstract

This thesis describes the women`s traumatic experiences in Toni Morrison Beloved. This is a qualitative narrative research as proposed by Creswell, and the data is collected through a collection of stories. The theory is feminism, which states that feminism can be interpreted as an understanding, study, or social movement that aims to raise the strata of women in a patriarchal society or environment. The analysis focuses on loss and violence towards women traumatized by slavery. In this study, there are two causes of women's traumatic experiences. Loss, represented by Sethe, who experiences cruel trauma in slavery. The violence she experienced, both at the hands of slave owners and in the form of structural oppression. The novel shows how trauma, loss, and violence not only damage individual lives but also shape collective experiences involving pain and the struggle to find identity and freedom. This study concludes that Toni Morrison conveys that women's experiences of trauma can occur in various aspects, namely loss and violence.
